Traces from the Latin term respectus meaning both literally and figuratively

"to turn around to look at" or "to regard."

For our next exhibition at Live Worms Gallery, we would like the gallery to serve as a place of ‘respite’ from the chaos that surrounds us - from the pandemic; from the fires; from the election; from the Supreme Court nomination; from divisiveness and uncertainty. We have collected a wide selection of artworks by over 30 artists that offer the viewer an opportunity to focus instead on a visual experience that promotes thoughts of wellbeing, harmony, beauty, calm, joy, celebration –  to create a refuge of sorts, a place of repose, a bubble of quiet in which to take a moment to step away from the noise. It is no accident that Election Day will occur during the run of this show. The title, Respite, is less a theme than a matter of creating a mood.

We invite you to experience the art in person – with the required safety restrictions in place – from October 20th to November 8th. Our location in the heart of North Beach has a lively outdoor dining and strolling scene. The monthly Art & Merchant event, North Beach First Friday, offers a variety of outdoor entertainments and festivities. There’s plenty of room to roam at a safe distance from other attendees – Mark Your Calendars for Friday, November 6th!

As there is a limit to how many visitors (10-12) can be in the gallery at any one time, rather than a traditional opening night event, we will host Open House Weekends – Friday thru Sunday – October 23-25 & October 30-November 1 & November 6-8 – Hours:1-6pm.
