Elizabeth Ashcroft is an altered book artist based in San Francisco. For over twenty years, her studio has been located in the creatively infamous neighborhood of North Beach where the air is infused with the spirit of artists and writers both past and present; review art event participation here.

In addition to the altered books, Elizabeth works in a variety of other media such as graphite pencil drawing and mixed media collage.

You can often find her work featured in shows at The Studio and Arc Galleries in San Francisco and at the Bright Side Gallery on Kauai, Hawaii as well as at a variety of other Bay Area venues including the ACCI Gallery in Berkeley, the juried Artspan Auction at SOMArts Gallery, Healdsburg Center for the Arts, the Yosemite Museum and the New Museum Los Gatos Museum Store.

Nationally, Vamp & Tramp, Booksellers, LLC have placed her altered books in the Shakespeare Collection in the Library of the University of Denver and the McCabe Library, Swarthmore College Library, Swarthmore, PA.
She is pleased to announce that the Smithsonian American Art and Portrait Museum Library recently acquired one of her altered books, “Letter Fall”, for their permanent collection! She is especially thrilled to be part of this national institution!

Annually, she participates in Artspan Open Studios and features her North Beach Drawing series at seasonal festivals including the North Beach Festival and the Festa Italiana Coloniale.
