“TEXTural”

The 2nd Annual Juried exhibition of artworks featuring text as part of the artist’s palette

Dates: August 4th thru August 28th, 2022

Live Worms Gallery, North Beach, SF

THEME

Do you find words inspiring? Do you see letters as shapes as well as the building blocks of language? Do you use words to add power and message to your work? Do you see swaths of text as texture, pattern, color?

Art and text have been interwoven for centuries – from ancient illustrated manuscripts to the ad copy/headline inspired works of Barbara Kruger – in every medium – the only limits are your imagination. For this exhibition, we are seeking artworks that incorporate letters, words, text - or any parts thereof - as a part of the creative process.

As a lover of words, I found ‘textural’ captured the essence of this process:

Textural: Having a structure of interwoven elements; having a distinctive physical composition of something, especially with respect to the size, shape, and arrangement of its parts; the quality given to a piece of art, literature, or music by the interrelationship of its elements
